On Thursday 18th May, we were thrilled to celebrate the relaunch of The Burlington Hotel. We hosted guests from 75 businesses, who came to see our newly refurbished bedrooms and bar and enjoyed a delicious preview of the brand-new menu for our Sea Pearl restaurant. The Champagne flowed and our chefs produced an array of delectable canapes and a spectacular seafood platter, while our brilliant team showed guests around our rooms, suites and event spaces.

Our owners, father-and-son team Kazem and Michael Najafi bought the hotel in 2017, and immediately put a plan in place to give the historic building a new lease of life while preserving its beautiful original features. Investing £3 million into the first stage of the refurbishment, Kazem and Michael have refreshed the interiors throughout, creating a comfortable and luxurious environment where guests can relax, unwind, and enjoy a truly unforgettable stay.

Michael says: “There were many challenges when we took over, due to the hotel being run down in every aspect. We embarked on bringing life to it, refurbishing the entire hotel interior; 26 en-suite bedrooms, the lobby, the bar and our restaurant, The Sea Pearl, as well as our event and meeting rooms. The hotel didn’t have a lift for 12 years and we have now put one in place. We are continuing to make improvements and will soon be decorating the exterior of the hotel and will start with our expansion plans in the near future.”

Further plans for the next exciting stage of the refurbishment include adding 18 new bedrooms and a new restaurant on the site of the former nightclub, which is currently one of our function rooms – The Coral Lounge.

Originally opening its doors in 1865, The Burlington Hotel is the oldest purpose-built hotel in Worthing and is now a listed building and one of the most beloved landmarks in the town. It has hosted literary greats such as Charles Dickens and Oscar Wilde, and more recently, football stars Gary Lineker and Paul Gascoigne have stayed here.
